Being in Guagnzhou China the hottest season this trip, I continued to study in the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese medicine with Dr. Guo, who’s the chair of the rehabilitation department. This hospital founded in 1933 was one of the earliest hospital of Chinese medicine in the modern era of China. During my study this time we used acupuncture as primary treatment modality and treated many challenging cases, such as hemiplegia, aphasia, impaired vision, scoliosis; as well as many common patterns like high blood pressure, insomnia, headache, muscle skeletal pains,
In addition, I had the honor to organized a few events in Guangzhou with local educators, curators. I hosted an event focused on mindfulness with usage of guided meditation, centered around Spleen and Stomach. The meditation brought together a group of participants, and helped them to bring awareness into their internal organ by reflecting on the relationship of our organ with the cosmos, the seasons, the emotion and life styles. The theme was centered on Spleen and Stomach, the two earth element organs, because the season we are in, the last part of the Summer where it’s transitioning to the Autumn is the earth season. To me it was meaningful for us to understand and show appreciation to the miraculous creation that is our body, and makes connection to the world.
Besides the guided meditation, I also cohosted “Healing Ceremony for Women” and “Life Attunement” events with Arie Kishon. These events were focus on how to harness subtle energies through simple everyday life ritual, that can nurture us and help us to achieve goals in life.
