About Homeopathy

Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a system of medicine that takes into account the body’s ability to heal itself. It uses a holistic approach, taking into consideration that each individual is unique and is experiencing dis-ease in their own particular way. For this reason, in homeopathy we would give attention to all of the symptoms and sensations that a person is experiencing, rather than focus on one particular problem and try to numb the pain in a specific organ. The body and mind are inseparable in life, and should be inseparable when it comes to healthcare.

Homeopathy is practiced according to principles, which due to their continued success, have remained unchanged for over 220 years.

The first is commonly known as “like cures like” – This is a principle that has been used in medicine since antiquity, but was championed by the founder of homeopathy, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, after careful examination of the validity of claims in the field of medicine at the time. Simply put, “like cures like” means that a discomfort that a diseased person is experiencing can be relieved by a substance that will bring about the same symptoms in a healthy person. This homeopathic remedy is invoking a response from the body, which is used to overcome the illness, thus the body is healing itself with the help of a little trigger that is the homeopathic remedy.

The second principle is that of the “minimum dose”. In order to minimize aggravation, the substances used for homeopathic remedies are diluted to such an extent where they might be deemed ineffective by conventional medicine. Another aspect of the minimum dose is that the client should only take the minimum amount of remedy necessary to produce an effect, and avoid taking “heroic” doses that are tasking for the body and may weaken it over time.

The third principle is that of the “single remedy”. In order to accurately assess the client’s progress, only one remedy is given at a time. This is to avoid the clutter that might come out of the interaction between multiple remedies, among other reasons.

Benefits of using homeopathy:

In homeopathy, every sign of discomfort is considered and should be reflected in your remedy recommendation, so there is a big chance that you will experience general relief, on several levels, and not just in the issue you wanted to address.

Homeopathy uses an individualized approach, where the remedy chosen for a particular client reflects their unique needs for that specific period in their life. There is no “one size fits all” and other clients who come to receive homeopathic care, even if they have the same diagnosis from a medical doctor, will probably receive a different remedy recommendation, because the way they experience the disease is different and their life circumstances are different. This minimizes exposure to compounds that may not be suitable for you in your quest for improved health, and thus minimizes the chance for side effects.

In homeopathy we consider all the symptoms that a person is experiencing, regardless of the name that is attributed to a condition in a diagnosis. From this perspective, we would use the same mechanisms to care for Lyme disease as we would for the flu. This means that nothing is off the table, and homeopathy does not shy away from conditions that have no clear treatment plan in conventional medicine.

Homeopathic remedies are considered mostly safe, easy to use, and non-addictive.
